(1-2)    ①   See if you can draw a picture of the harmonic standing wave that Nefertiti and Cormorant set up.


②  Further investigations revealed that more harmonics could be obtained if Cormorant closed down the vibration at certain other positions, further down the finger board. Suggest what these standing waves may have looked like and how the corresponding notes sounded compared to the original harmonic.


③  If Cormorant touched the string at most positions, however – for example at 37% of the way along – only an extremely weak, very high note could be heard.  Explain why this should be so.
